On International Women’s Day, The Planner announced Claire as one of The Planner’s Women of Influence for 2024 – 2025.
Every year the Planner acknowledges the most influential women in and around planning as nominated by their readers. Formally assessed by a team of judges drawn from the planning sector, the panel felt that the commitment to supporting colleagues, communities and the wider aims of planning deserved recognition. The recognition will be celebrated at a reception in London in May 2025 to celebrate Women of Influence.

“Claire has successfully utilised her experience as the local authority’s lead planner on the Hinkley Point C project to promote the Gravity LDO and help secure the Tata/Agratas gigafactory (7,500 jobs) for Somerset. She is now promoting a new clean energy super cluster in the Greater South West of England.”
“Claire’s vision for a gigascale facility as a new entrant to the global marketplace is a stand-out factor, creating a platform for the UK to welcome a new sector and supply chain opportunities. Committed to regenerating a stalled, contaminated 616 acre site into a clean growth hub, Claire is renowned for place-based visions with solutions at their core, ensuring delivery and providing inclusive employment opportunities, using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a framework to agree priorities, and build support and shape technical processes. The ‘Take Charge’ campaign sought to reconnect South West and UK professionals around the challenge of decarbonisation and delivering national infrastructure for electrification. ”
“The Gravity LDO ensures the economic benefits of the project extend to the local community, focusing on creating educational pathways, training and wellbeing opportunities, and re-skilling programs for the existing workforce, contributing to overall local upliftment. This can also be exemplified through the design of new community leisure facilities at Gravity, providing a multi-generational response to leisure and wellbeing, with construction underway in 2024.”
